Maine Yankee Station Security Plan Gentlemen:

Please find enclosed six copies of the revised " Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station Security Plan," and a " Description of Changes."

Based on an overall evaluation of the changes made to the MYAPS Security l Plan and enhancemer,t; r.;ade to the security program and systems, it has been determined that the effectiveness of the security plan has not been decreased, therefore, the changes are being submitted under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p). An evaluation of specific changes, consistent with this conclusion, is presented in the " Description of Changes."

Due to the extensive restructuring of the plan and the physical modifications to the security program and systems currently underway, the provisions of the plan will not be implemented until July 1, 1989 or sixty days following receipt of formal acceptance of the changes from the Staff, which ever is later. Those modifications to the security systems and programs that are not presently complete and their scheduled completion dates are identified in Appendix A to this letter.

The appendix and enclosures to this, letter contain Safeguards Information of a type specified in 10 CFR 73.21 and shall be protected against unauthorized disclosure. When separated from the appendix and enclosures, this letter may be decontrolled.
