Significant Inspection Findings 3rd Quarter A.
NRC Inspections NRC (Region V) inspected Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital on May 10-11, 1989.
Nine apparent violations were identified during this inspection.
Navy had ' inspected this same permittee in November 1988.
This number of violations and additioral matters were discussed at a Management Meeting with the licensee on July 27, 1989.
In addition, NRC (Region II) inspected Pensacola Naval Hospital on June 5-6, 1989.
This was both a routine inspection and a special inspection to followup a Naval Corr.and Inquiry regardir.g an apparent falsification of dosimetry records.
Action is still pending on this matter.
B.
U. S. Navy Inspections No significant findings reported this quarter.
V.
Radiation Safety Comittee Meeting On June 15, 1989, representatives of the Region II office attended the 3rd quarterly meeting of the Navy Radiation Safety Committee.
Region II representatives discussed NRC's reporting and notification requirements, NRC/ Navy inspection program compatibility, and NRC enforcement policy.
Navy representatives provided further information on their inspection of Long Beach Naval Shipyard.
VI. Reportable Events / Notifications None during this quarter.
VII. Meetings / Conferences / Reviews A management meeting was held with Navy representatives in the Region II office on July 27, 1989 to discuss recent inspection findings at Camp Pendleton and to discuss NRC/ Navy Inspection Program compatibility and consistency.

.VIII Allegation. Management-No allegations reported this quarter.
Other Items IX. Region II'is currently in the process of drafting changes to MC 2810 based' on experience' gained in the oversight of the Navy Broad License.
Expected completion date for this activity is September 1989.
