MONDAY, JULY 10, 1989, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission
- was iriefed by the staff on the status of the.
' Emergency Response Data System.(ERDS) for use in transmitting plant. data to the NRC Emergency Response Center during an accident at a nuclear power plant (described in staff paper.
SECY-89-193, which'was released to the public at time of this briefing).
The Commission requested the staff to:
proceed with the implementation of ERDS; maintain a good working relationship with industry and.
NUMARC; encourage all plants to volunteer to implement ERDS; continue parallel efforts to develop a rule regarding the implementation of ERDS in accordance with the schedule set
.forth by the staff; and
. periodically apprise the Commission on the progress of the implementation of ERDS.
The' staff stated that it will apprise the Commission on the capability of the Peach Bottom plant to transmit the necessary data through ERDS.
