V. C. SUMMER I DATE:

09/01/89 COMPLETED BY:

J. W. HALTIWANGER TELEPHONE:

(803) 345-4297 AUGUST 1989 During the month of August, the unit operated at approximately 100% power until it was taken offline ori the 25th.

On August 25, leakage through a pressurizer safety valve had increased sufficiently to warrant a reactor shutdown. As the controlled shutdown progressed, the pressurizer safety valve lifted and a manual reactor trip was initiated at 1004 hours0.0116 days
0.279 hours
0.00166 weeks
3.82022e-4 months
. The subsequent pressure drop reseated the valve before reaching the safety injection (SI) setpoint.

The valve was replaced and-the unit was in Mode 3 in preparation for reactor startup at the end of the month.
