The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), as part of its responsibility of regulating nuclear power plants, periodically evaluates the performance of its licensees through a-Performance (SALP). program called the Systematic Assessment of Licensee Through this program, we review and evaluate our licensees
- performance in the four major categories of: Plant Operations.
Maintenance. Engineering, and Plant Support.
The Plant Support category includes an assessment of licensee performance with regard to emergency preparedness.
On June 11, 1998. representatives of the NRC will meet with the management of the Tennessee Valley Authority to discuss the Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant's performance over the past 20 months.
You are invited to attend this meetirig as an observer.
Subsequent to this meeting, we have scheduled time to meet with you, and other members of your staff as you deem appropriate, to discuss matters of mutual interest with regard to the regulation and performance of Browns Ferry.
This SALP meeting is scheduled to be conducted at 12:00 noon (CST) at the Browns Ferry. Training Center, at the corner of Shaw and Nuclear Plant Road.
Athens. Alabama.
The proposed meeting with you and other local and State officials will be conducted in the Browns Ferry Training Center shortly after 1
the conclusion of the SALP.
