Dear Mr. Defline:
1 This will confirm previous telephone conversations between Uldis Potapovs of our staff and Mr. Frank Donnelly, Jr, of your Houston office concerning the inspection of your Mulhouse facilities on October 2 and 3,1989.
The purpose of this inspection is to review your quality assurance program and its implementation as related to the emergency diesel generators which you are providing to the Northern States Power Company for use in the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.
The scope of the inspection will include a general review of your quality assurance program as it relates to SACM manufacturing activities as well as to control of subcontracted materials and services. We are particularly interested in the control of purchased components and material including measures to assure that appropriate technical and quality requirements are specified and passed on to the suppliers and the provisions for in-process or receiving i
inspections to assure that these requirements are satisfied. We are also interested in the control of testing activities of subassemblies or completed units including demor,stration of compliance with equipment qualification and seismic requirements as applicable.
We appreciate your ar.d Mr. Donnelly's cooperation and assistance in this matter and hope that the above will give you sufficient information to prepare for our visit.
