" Revised Response to Generic Letter 96-06 (TAC NO. M96835)", February 2, 1 1998.

By letter dated January 28,1997 (Ref.1), NSP informed the staff of its intent in response to NRC Generic Letter 96-06 and made the following commitment:

l 'Monticello willinstallpressure relieving devices or other equivalent means to l resolve the overpressure conditions identified by this submittalprior to startup from the next refueling outage. The next refueling outage is currently scheduled for l January 1998."

l By letter dated February 2,1998 (Ref. 2), after verbal discussions with the NRC staff, l NSP revised our commitment to the following:

l prior to startup from the 1998 refueling outage with the exception of the RHR Shutdown cooling line and the instmment air /altemale N2 system which willbe resolved during the 1999 refueling outage. The 1998 refueling outage is currently scheduled for March 1998 and the 1999 outage for November 1999."

With this letter, NSP is ir. irming the NRC that Monticello did install pressure relieving devices during the 1998 refueling outage as we committed to, and that it is still our intent to complete GL 96-06 modifications during the 1999 refueling outage.

This letter contains no restricted or other defense information.
