An NRC inspection was conducted September 2-5,1997, at your South Texas Project

Electric Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, reactor facilities. The enclosed report presents

the scope and results of that inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection included portions of your physical security, access

authorization, and fitness-for-duty programs. We determined that these programs were

properly implemented.

The material enclosed herewith contains Safeguards Information as defined by 10 CFR

'

Part 73.21 and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals is prohibited by Section 147 of the

Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended. Therefore, the material will nel be placed in the

Public Document Room.
