Dear Sir:
By letter dated August 2, 1988, Philadelphia Electric Company (PECo) responded to Generic Letter (GL) 88-01, "NRC Position on IGSCC in BWR Austenitic Stainless Steel Piping " dated January 25, 1988 for Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2.
PECo subsequently revised that response by letters dated April i
28, 1989 and May 30, 1989. Your [[letter::05000352/LER-1989-042, :on 890509,determined That 17 of 185 CRD Accumulator Check Valves Could Not Maintain Hydraulic Control Unit Accumulator Pressure Above Low Pressure Alarm Setpoint of 970 Psig.Caused by Personnal Error|letter dated July 10, 1989]] requested that PECo i
provide additional information and reformat the information contained in our original response to facilitate a compliance-type review by the NRC. We have recently determined that extensive efforts and significant resources will be needed to gather the additional information and provide it in the format specified in the RAI.
We believe our original submittal is of sufficient quality to allow PECo not to respond to the RAI. We request that the NRC staff review our original submittal and identify any open items. We would then provide a response to the open items.
We will take no further action with respect to the RAI until we receive further direction from the staff.
