The purpose of. route alerting is to. supplement the public alert system for notification of the hearing-impaired or in the event of n full or partial failure'of the public alert system.

General A.

The Town of1est Newbury is divided into 5 sectors.

Each sector can then be further divided into subsectors if *t'he

situation watrants.

B.

Route alert teams, consisting of two members, are assigned to notify seleci~! populations within a given sector or sectors.

Procedures A.

To mobilize Route Alert Teams:

Assign two individuals to each team and a vehicle to each team.

Record the information on Route Alert Team Instruction Sheet (Tab 1).

4.

Issue Roote Alert Sector Maps (Tab 4) and pre-formatted messades Oab 3) to each team.

5.

Verify operability of each team's communication and alerting -quipment.

6.

Review 16ute Alert Team instructions (Tab 1) with the teams.
