Gentlemen:

n The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region V office is planning to host a medical iicensee workshop in the Oak?and, California area on July 18-19, 1989.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide valuable information to nuclear medicine and radiation therapy professionals about current and future NRC licensing and inspection requirements. The NRC staff is also interested in receiving comments from licensees concerning its regulatory program. The workshop is detigned to encourage and provide opportunities for questions and discussion. The attached tentative agenda is enclosed for your information.

We plan to invite all NRC medical licensees in our Region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington) and all Veterans Administration Medical Center licensees in the United States.

NRC inspection, licensing and enforcement staff from regional and headquarters (Washington, D.C.) offices will attend. We also will be inviting representatives from the state radiation control programs in the above mentioned states and Guam.

Enclosed is a quo tionnaire regarding the planned attendance by your self and your personnel and colleagues at the workshop. The completion and mailing of the form to NRC Region V will assist us in planning a quality workshop that will be of benefit to all attendees.

We will be sending you further details about the workshop when the agenda s speakers and exact location are finalized.
