Technical Specification 4.4.5.5a Report of Steam Generator Tube Plugging Ladies and Gentlemen:

This letter is submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS) Unit Number 1, Operating License, Appendix A, Technical Specifications.

Technical Specification 4.4.5.5a requires Toledo Edison to report to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) the number of tubes plugged in each steam generator (SG) following each inservice inspection of steam generator tubes.

The Eleventh Refueling Outage SG tube inservice inspection was completed on April 27,1998. ,

As a result of the inspection findings 18 tubes were plugged in SG l-1 and 32 tubes were l

plugged in SG l-2. In addition 1 tube was deplugged, pulled and the tubesheets were replugged '

in that region in SG l-2.

Toledo Edison will provide the complete results of the steam generator tube inservice inspection ,

in accordance with Technical Specifications 4.4.5.5b and 6.9.1.5b prior to March 31,1999. This report willinclude: 1) the number and extent of tubes inspected,2) the location and percent of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, and 3) the identification of tubes plugged, sleeved or repair rolled.
