Georgia Power Company hereby submits for NRC review:

1. 5 copies of IICAP-12218 entitled," Evaluation of Thermal Stratification for the Alvin W. Vegtle Unit 2 Pressurizer Surge Line" (Proprietary).
2. 5 copies of WCAP-12219 entitled , " Evaluation of Thermal Stratification for the Alvin W.Vogtle Unit 2 Pressurizer Surge Line" (Non-Proprietary).

Also enclosed is a Westinghouse authorization letter, CAW-89-046, Proprietary Information Notice, and accompanying Affidavit.

These reports present the methods, data, analysis and qualification results for the Vogtle Unit 2 pressurizer surge line, including thermal stratification. It has been concluded, based on the current understanding of the thermal stratification phenomenon, that thermal stratification has very limited impact on integrity of the pressurizer surge line of Vogtle Unit 2. The analysis also concludes that the forty year design life of the plant is not impacted.

As item 1 contains information proprietary to Westinghouse Electric Corporation, it is supported by an affidavit signed by Westinghouse, the owner of the information. The affidavit sets forth the basis on which the information may be withheld from public disclosure by the Commission and addresses with specificity the considerations listed in paragraph (b) (4) of Section 2.790 of the Commission's regulations.

Accordingly, it is respectfully requested that the information which is proprietary to Westinghouse be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with 10CFR Scr. tion 2.790 of the Commission's regulations.
