SUBJECT:
COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 CONTAINMENT MAXIMUM FLOOD LEVEL 1
SDAR: CP-88-15 (SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On January 18, 1988, by letter logged TXX-88115, TV Electric notified the NRC of a deficiency involving the containment maximum flood level.
The latest report was logged TXX-89065, dated February 14, 1989.
The purpose of this report is to update the corrective action, and to correct the discussion of Design Basis Documents (DBDs) related to this issue.
The corrective actions previously specified for this issue in TXX-88115, dated January 18, 1988, indicated that the incore instrumentation room door would be modified, the containment design flood level recalculated and the Equipment Qualification (EQ) program appropriately revised. These actions have been completed for Unit I with the exception of the EQ program changes.
Since the recalculated maximum containment design flood level is less than the level used in the EQ program, the containment design flood level originally assumed in the EQ program is conservative. Accordingly, no changes to the EQ program are required to address this item.
TXX-88115 also indicated that DBD-ME-008, " Containment Analysis" and DBD-ME-076, " Postulated Environment for Equipment Qualification" provided criteria related to maximum containment flood level.
However, maximum containnient flood level criteria is addressed only in DBD-ME-076, since the scope of DBD-ME-008 is limited to analysis of pressure and temperature inside the containment structure.
