-AFFECTING SAFETY-RELATED EOUIPMENT Gentlemen:
In the initial response to Generic Letter 88-14 a commitment was made to send a subsequent report that would include the results of additional engineering review and research to substantiate our original conclusion that the design, installt. tion, testing, operation and maintenance of the instrument air systems at Hatch Nuclear Plant are adequate to ensure the proper and reliable operation of pneumatically operated, safety-related equipment.
This report was to be sent to you on June 1, 1989.
The resources being utilized in generating the report on Generic Letter 88-14 have recently been rededicated to support the Safety System Functional Inspection which will be initiated by the NRC May 15, 1989.
Georgia Power Company wishes to revise our commitment and provide the additional information by July 14, 1989.
Per conversation with the NRC Hatch Project Manager (L. P. Crocker), it is our understanding that this schedule revision is acceptable.
Sincerely, bohd $$0ho$a
