JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 NARRATIVE SUbMARY OF OPERATIONS April, 1989 The Cycle 6 - 7 refueling outage continued through the month of April.
The following major safety-related maintenance was performed in the month of April:
l 1.
The reactor was de-fueled and visual inspections of the reactor vessel were completed. The fuel, including 65 fresh assemblies, was placed back into the reactor vessel.
2.
Eddy current examinations were performed on tubes in all three steam generators. As a result of this inspection program, 27 tubes were plugged:
11 on the 2A steam generator, 12 on the 2B steam generator, and four on the 2C steam generator.
In addition, 137 tubes were designated F5:
18 on the 2A steam generator, 30 on the 2B steam generator, and 89 on the 20 steam generator.
The plug in plug device was also installed in steam generator mechanical tube plugs as detennined by an evaluation of the corrosion propensity of plugs. The evaluation of the corrosion propensity of tube plugs is based on considerations such as material conditions and operating temperatures. As a result of this evaluation, 172 plug in plug devices were installed:
25 on the 2A steam generator, 50 on the 2B steam generator, and 97 on the 2C steam generator.
3.
The program for performing physical and calibration inspections of the HFA relays continued.
4.
The program for refurbishing the actuators on motor-operated valves continued.
5.
Miscellaneous corrective and nreventive maintenance was Ierfonsed on the diesel generators.
