Special Report No.89-001, Unit 1 Fire Detection Systems Inoperable for flore Than Fourteen Days At 0530 on 6-5-89, fire detection instrumentation system 1A-108-W3 was disabled in order to support modifications to the Access Control area. Subse-quently, fire detection instrumentation systems 1A-114.and 1A-52 were also disabled to support this effort on 6-14-89 and 6-19-89, respcetively. Due to the scope of the work, the systems could not be returned to i vice within fourteen days. Technical Specification 3.3.3.9 requires the fire detection systems to be returned to operable status within fourteen days or a Special Report must be submitted within the following 30 days. Therefore, this Special Report is being submitted.
The modifications to the Access Control area are expected to be completed by 9-1-89.
The fire detection systems will be returned to operable status at that time.
Technical Specification action statement requirements are being met for the inoperable fire detection systems.
