Gentlemen:

On October 6, 1988, TV Electric verbally notified your Mr. R. F. Warnick of a potentially reportable deficiency involving the Chemical Volume and Control System (CVCS) charging pumps alternate minimum flow recirculation piping. The latest report on this issue, logged TXX-89053, was submitted February 2,1989.

The purpose of this report is to update the status of this issue.

The pipe stress and pipe support evaluations required to asser,s the safety significance of this potentially reportable deficiency are ongoing.

TV Electric will submit the final report on this issue prior to fuel load for Unit 1.
