Thank you very much for the time and courtesy you and your staff provided to James H. Joyner, Jerome Roth and myself during our visit to United Nuclear on June 8, 1989.

As I said at the time, I am presently learnir.g a great deal about NRC's Region I licensees, and my visit to UNC was most helpful. I particularly appreciate the time George Waugh and Bob Gregg spent to personally guide us through your plant. I believe I now have a much better understanding of your manufacturing process and some of the related safety and development issues.

Fursuant to our discussions, I will look into constructive actions concerning licensing and clearances. I also look forward to informal management discussions on issues of mutual interest.

An up-to-date copy of the Region I organization is enclosed. Again, my thanks for your and your staff's efforts.
