STAFF POSITION ON EROSION PROTECTION COVERS We have completed a final version of the draft Staff Technical Position (STP).

" Design of Erosion Protection Covers for. Stabilization of Uranium Mill I

Tailings Sites." A copy of the STP is enclosed.

Please transmit copies of this position to the appropriate Indian tribes and non-agreement states. We recently provided Rosetta Virgilio with a list of Indian tribes and states that routinely receive correspondence related to Title I UMTRA sites.

In addition, the position should be sent to states and tribes involved in Title II activities. The availability of the position was noticed in the Federal Register on August 11, 1989.

However, transmitting the

'STP directly to the tribes and agreement states should provide them with a greater opportunity for comment.
