SUBJECT:
INITIAL MANAGEMENT MEETING WITH LOUISIANA ENERGY SERVICES Louisiana Energy Services (LES) recently announced that it will proceed with plans to develop the country's first commercial uranium enrichment plant.
Presently, such a plant must be licensed by the NRC pursuant to 10 CFR Part 50.
To_begin the licensing process, a meeting has been arranged between the executive steering committee and other key representatives.of LES and NRC staff management.
'This initial meeting has the following purposes:
1.
Introducing principal applicant and NRC organizations and
.i individuals responsible for licensing activities.
2.
Providing a description of preliminary information regarding the proposed site and plant ' characteristics.
3.
Establishing a preliminary schedule and protocol for conducting the licensing proceeding.
4.
Identifying pre-application activities related to:
- anti-trust information
- foreign ownership, control, and domination
- transfer of classified technology
- quality assurance program
- site characterization 5.
Providing a description of criteria and guidance necessary or desirable for preparation and review of a license application.
