Thank you for your letter dated January 13, 1989 clarifying the division of responsibilities between reactor operators and senior reactor operators at the Ford Nuclear Reactor. Specifically you indicated that the present Lead Reactor Operator position would be changed to Senior Reactor Operator and you indicated that a licensed senior reactor operator would be on shift whenever the reactor is in operation.
Your letter also outlined specific procedures and evolutions which will require the supervision of a licensed senior reactor operator to accomplish.
We will review your procedural changes during the course of preparing for the next examination to be given at the Ford Nuclear Reactor.
We believe that specifying positions and responsibilities will be beneficial to both the operators on shif t in their day-to-day activities, and operator examiners in their duties.
