DPR-42 50-306-DPR-60 Response to Inspection Reports 50-282/88019 and 50-306/88019 In response to your letter of November 23, 1988, which transmitted Inspection Reports No. 50-282/88019 and No. 50-306/88019, the follow-ing information is offered.
Violatio2 Technical Specification 4.4.A.2 requ!res that each airlock shall be tested every three days if it is in use.
Contrary to the above, on May 25, 1988, the Unit 1 personnel airlock door was used, but was not subsequently tested.
This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplettent I).
Response
Failure to perform the personnel airlock door seal test was due to an oversight during the performance of the test procedure. This event was reportec' as Unit 1 LER 88-006; a similar event occurred on September 21, 1988 and was reported as Unit 2 LER 88-001.
Corrective Actions That Have Been Taken and Resulte Achieved The personnel airlock door seal test w;s successfully performed on July 13, 1988 indicating that the door seals were operable and leak tight.
