COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 AUXILIARY FEEDWATER FLOW ORIFICE SDAR:
CP-89-004 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On February 17, 1989, TV Electric verbally notified the NRC of a potential deficiency involving rotational parts of the Auxiliary Feedwater Flow Orifice Assembly.
Specifically, flow testing of auxiliary feedwater pump CP1-AFAPMD-02 indicates that the minimum flow orifice CP1-AFORB0-02 is passing greater flow than design flow which may adversely affect the rated flow required to the steam generators under accident conditions.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Further evaluation of this issue is required to determine potential impact on plant safety.
The next report will be issued by May 1, 1989.
Sincerely, W0bkm f. O S>91 William J. Cahill, Jr.
