Units 1 and 2) ) (ASLBP No. 89-591-01-CivP) JOINT STATUS REPORT AND STIPULATION Counsel for Alabama Power Company and the NRC staff hereby file a joint status report, as required by the Board in its order of July 17, 1989. The Parties exchanged their first requests for production of documents during the week ending on August 4,1989, and are in the process of responding to th'ose requests. Since the Parties stipulated to a schedule for discovery in this matter, as reflected in the Parties' " Joint Stipulation" dated July 14, 1989, the staff has i undertaken to retain a consultant to assist the staff in analyzing the technical i issues in the captioned matter. Due to the consultant's schedule, however, the l parties recognize that the schecule stated in the July 14 Joint Stipulation may require modification. In accordance with this agreement, deposition of the staff's witnesses, other than the staff's consultant, is i scheduled for September 6, 7, and 8,1989. Deposition of the licensee's l witnesses and the staff's consultant is tentatively scheduled for the middle of 1 October,1989, depending on the staff's consultant's schedule.
