- ATHS-ARI SYSTEM TESTABILITY AT POWER Gentlemen:

This. letter is written in response to your correspondence of

. December 14~,

1988 noting the open item concerning ATHS-ARI System Testability at power.

Georgia Power Company will implement a design change which will allow testing at power.

The cha'nge will utilize test switches which' block the actuation signal to the ARI solenoid valve during testing.

This will allow the ARI~ Actuation Relays to be energized without causing the valves to change state.

Also, an alarm will be provided to alert the operator that testing is in progress which conforms with the Regulatory Guide 1.47 regulatory position.

These changes will be implemented according to our H

schedule for completing the additional ATHS modifications, that is; by the end of the refueling outages scheduled for 1990 and 1991 for Units 1 and 2, respectively.

Should you have any questions, please advise.

Sincerely, f

[A) s H. G. Hairston, III DLM/eb.
