Gentlemen New Hampshire Yankee (NHY) appreciates the opportunity to comment on the subject advance notice of proposed rulemaking. New Hampshire Yankee does not believe that the issuance of a rule or modifications to existing regulations will offer an effective solution to the industry concern with the use of fraudulent, counterfeit or substandard components in commercial nuclear power plants. Industry initiatives are being actively developed by the NUMARC Nuclear Plant Equipment Procurement Working Group to address this concern.
New Hampshire Yankee participated in the development of and endorses the comment letter submitted by NUMARC on June 26, 1989.
