Torsional Moment Exclusion When Using USAS B31.1-1967 Code The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC Staff with a revision j
to a report sent to you on March 8, 1989. A copy of revision 1 to l
Report No. R.834486-1, " Summary Report on Sampling Study to Evaluate the Effect of Torsional Moment on Pipe Stress Qualification" is i
attached. Revised sections are sidelined.
The revisions to the report are minor and have no impact on the con-clusions of the study. Of the 58 analytical parts sampled, 14 rather than 13 required additional study to verify that stresses with tor-sional moment included were within USAR allowables. All 58 analytical parts are still within USAR allowables when torsional moment is in-cluded.
One typographical error was also corrected in the report.
These changes were discussed with Mr J A Gavula of the NRC Region III Staff at an inspection meeting in the offices of Fluor Daniel on April 12, 1989.
Please contact us if you have any questions related to the revised report.
