SUBJECT:
TRANSFER OF HUMBOLDT BAY UNIT 3 AND VALLECITOS B0ILING WATER REACTOR FROM NRR TO NMSS (DOCKET NOS. 50-133 and 50-18)
Effective immediately, the regulatory licensing responsibility for Humboldt Bay Unit 3 and Vallecitos Boiling Water Reactor (VBWR) are transferred from PDSNP of NRR to the Regulatory Branch of the Division of Low Level Waste Management and Decommissioning,(Memorandum, Thomas E. Murley and Hugh L.
NMSS. This transfer is consistent with the agreement between NRR and NMSS Thompson,'Jr. to Victor Stello dated March 21,1988).
Both of these plants as you know are permanently shutdown and in a SAFSTOR statu s.
Decommissioning plans and SAFSTOR Technical Specifications have been approved-for both plants and neither plant has any outstanding licensing actions.
Pete Erickson of my staff will assist in the orderly transfer of project I
manager files to Dan Martin. The licensees will continue to send their correspondence to the NRC Document Control Desk for distribution to HMSS.
By copy of this memo, NMSS, Region V, 0GC, PA, Records and Reports Management Branch and the Document Control Desk are being notified of the following changes for Humboldt Bay Unit 3 and VBWR:
