OTHER ACTIONS, AGREEMENTS, ASSIGNMENTS, AND REQUESTS The Committee discussed a draft report proposed by Dr. Lewis on the use of the NRC's Safety Goal Policy as a standard to measure the effective-ness of NRC rules and regulations in protecting the public health and safety. The Committee decided not to send a letter of this type at this time.
Dr. Lewis subsequently transmitted a personal memorandum to the Commission with recommendations on this type of use of the NRC's Safety Goal Policy. A copy of Dr. Lewis's memorandum has been sent to you.
The Comittee met with Mr. Stello and discussed the possible uses of the revised NUREG-1150 report.
The revised report is expected to be avail-able by April 17, 1989.

May 3,1989 regarding several topics of interest. Members were urged to attend to the extent practicable.
Since the last. report of ACRS activities, the following subcommittee meetings have been held:
Mechanical Components, February 28, 1989 The Subcommittee continued its discussions on the NRC staff's proposed generic letter on MOVs.
Occupational and Environmental Protection Systems, March 1-2, 1989 The Subcommittee discussed the general status of emergency prepar-edness for nuclear power plants.
Severe Accidents, March 7, 1989 The Subcommittee reviewed the NRC staff's proposed Severe Accident Research Plan.
Themal Hydraulic Phenomena, March 7,1989 The Subcommittee reviewed the NRC staff's proposed final Policy Statement on additional applications of leak-before-break technol-ogy.
General Electric Reactor Plants, March 8, 1989 The Subcommittee reviewed the proposed restart plan for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station.
