Dear Mr. Bickwit:
-k ~
This letter is to acknowledge receipt of a Petition filed by'you on August 4, 1989, on behalf of the Long Island Association requesting that action be taken f
with regard to Shoreham Nuclear Power Station Unit 1.
In your Petition you request that'the Commission order the suspension of the Long Island Lighting Company's actions in furtherance of a " minimum posture condition" at Shoreham, h o.
undertake an investigation into whether license violations have occurred,
-initiate an environmental review of the planned decommissioning of Shoreham, and devise a process to consider Shoreham issues.
As. grounds-for your request, you assert that LILC0 is making changes to its facility, has taken actions which constitute a "de facto" decommissioning'of -
Shoreham, has violated Commission regulations and regulations of the Council on Environmental Quality, and otherwise has taken actions which are inconsistent with the premists underlying its license.
Your petition has been. referred to me pursuant to 10 C.F.R. 6 2.206 of the Commission's regulations. As provided by Section 2.206, action will be taken on your request within a reasonable time.
I have enclosed for your information, a copy of the notice that is being filed with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
Sincerely,
/s/
