L Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4,1983, amended Section 189 of the 1
Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to issue and make immediately effective any amendment to an operating license upon a determination by the Comission that such amendment involves L
no significant hazards consideration, notwithstanding the pendency before the Comission of a request for a hearing.
In addition, the legislation requires the Comission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every 30 days) publish notice of any emendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Comission's Biweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no significant hacards considerations, which was published in the Federal Register on June 14, 1989.
