JUN 161988 Docket No. : 030-17129 License No.: 50-19202-01 Control No.: 70781 CTI, Inc. 3512 International Way Fairbanks, Alaska 99701 Attention: Mr. Sandy Watson, Radiation Safety Officer Gentlemen: This will acknowledge receipt of your letter dated June 6,1988 and two copies of your current Radiation Safety Program. In a' recent telephone conversation, I explained that your updated Radiation Safety Program manual-could be added to your license with no additional y amendment fee if no changes were made to the program that had not been describdandapprovedinrecentamendmentrequests. In screening your June 6, 1988 submittal, I noticed two changes which have not been previously approved. On page 5 of Section 7, Part I, you _ indicate that a consultant or designee can instruct your Radiation Safety Training classes and that a video tape on radiation safety may be used. As consultants must be individually reviewed to assure that they are qualified to conduct the classes, and as video tape presentations must be presented by individuals who can_ answer questions about them, these changes cannot be accepted without further explanation. Also,' page 16 of Section 5.0 of Part I indicates the use of a CTI, Inc leak test kit, although such a kit has not been described in past submittals. Will CTI also analyze the samples? What equipment will be used? Please refer to the enclosed guide. You should review these comments and inform this office in writing of whether you wish your June 6, 1988 submittal to be considered as an amendment i request. If so, please provide the additional information requested and i submit the correct amendment fee. If not, please amend page 16, Section 5, Part I and Page 5, Section 7, Part I to read as currently approved. If you have questions concerning these matters, contact me at (415) 943-3765.
