'BJ/ LETTER TO REGAN VOIT Mr.-Regan E. Voit Vice President, Operations-APR 1 B 1989 LN Technologies Corporation 1501 Key Road-Columbia,-SC 29201'

Dear Mr.' Voit:

3.,

Letter of-January from M. Tokar of NRC to R.

Voit of!LN Technologies; transmitting preliminary connents on Decontamination Resin

. Waste Forms Topical Report (LN-88-001 of June 1988).

We are'in receipt'of the Revision 1 version of the subject topical report (Reference 1) and note that you plan to submit additional information on CAN-DEREM wastesL by the end of June,1989. :Your submission of June,1988, (Rev.

0), of this topical report, addressing solidification of-LOMI and CAN-DECON resin wastes (Reference 2), was reviewed by our consultants, and their review comments were sent to-you (Reference 3).

Your letter states that'the subject report is Revision 1 to the Topical Report of June 1988. A brief examination reveals that the revised report addresses solidification of LOMI, CAN-DECON-

.and CAN-DEREM resin wastes.

In addition, testing of the CAN-DECON and CAN-DEREM resin waste forms with/without Alkaline Permanganate (AP)/ Nitrate Permanganate (NP) is also included in this report.

It appears that except for-the LOMI resin waste form,-this revised report addresses waste streams which are different from those addressed in the original version of this topical report.

If these are, in. fact,:new formulations, all the data in the revised report would have to be reviewed by both the NRC staff'and our technical consultants as if it were a new topical report.

Therefore, we sugges_t that you consider withdrawing the previous version of this topical report and formally request NRC to treat this revised report as'a new topical

report.

We would then assign a new docket number and initiate the review

. process. We solicit your response to this approach.
