SUBJECT:
NRC MEETING WITH NUMARC WORKING GROUP ON PROCUREMENT l
On April 26, 1989, NRR management and staff met with the Chairman l
(Mr. W. Cavanaugh) and members of the NUMARC Working Group on Procurement at their NUMARC offices to discuss the status of the Working Group's activities to review and improve licensee programs for procurement and dedication of equipment for use in nuclear power plants. A list of attendees is enclosed.
Mr. Cavanaugh stated that NUMARC had accepted the Working Group's recommendation and had endorsed the EPRI " Guidelines for the Utilization of Commercial Grade l
Items in Nuclear Safety-Related Applications" (EPRI Report NP-5652) for industry use. Mr. Cavanaugh reported that the Working Group's activities are proceeding on schedule and that the " White Paper" describing the Working Group's action plan, program, and schedule should be provided to the NRC in May 1989.
