DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Molded Case Circuit Breaker Replacement NRC Insnection 50-282/88-201 and 50-306/88-201 Reference 1: Letter from C E Larson (NSP) to H J Miller (NRC) dated June 20, 1989, titled: Molded Case Circuit Breakers and Other Information Related to the Vendor Inspection Branch

. Audit, NRC Inspection 50-282/88-201 and 50-306/88-201 In Reference 1 we committed to several actions related to the testing and replacement of used molded case circuit breakers (MCCB) provided by the Bud Ferguson Coapany. The following information is provided in response to those commitments.

We committed to provide a replacement schedule for two feedwater isolation valve motor MCCBs. This is no longer necessary since all used Bud Ferguson Company MCCBs utilized in safety-related applications have been replaced. The breakers were replaced with equivalent THEF style MCCBs previously used in non-safety related functions in the plant.

We also committed to a testing schedule for the replacement MCCBs. All of the replacement breakers have been successfully tested per the test procedure specified in Prairie Island's Commercial Grade Procurement Dedication Evaluation for MCCRa, This testing ensured that these original plant MCCBs I

were suitable for safety related purposes, k

l It has been discovered that the cable connectors supplied with the Bud l

Ferguson Company MCCBs were reused in the installation of some of the replacement MCCBs.

Since these cable connectors may not have been supplied by the MCCB manufacturer, they will be replaced. These replacements are I

scheduled to be completed by July 7, 1989.
