STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIE I 4G ON INTEGRATION OF POLICY ST EMENTS FOR~ SEVERE ACCIDENTS, ADVANCED REACTORS, SAFETY GOALS, AND STANDARDIZATION, 10:00 A.M.,. WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 1989, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH,,ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the staff on the integration of the Commission's policy statements for severe accidents,
-advanced reactors, safety goals, and standardization.
.The Commission requested the staff to prepare a paper outlining:-
1.
When information.will be available to make decisions on the key. licensing issues for the advanced reactor designs, and policy questions associated with the review of the
)
evolutionary and advanced light water reactors; 2.
When these decisions are needed; and 3.
.The decision-making process that ensures the integration of necessary information.for making timely decisions.

Subsequent to the meeting, the Commission requested the staff and~the ACRS to prepare a joint paper which clearly identifies their differing positions on the concept of adequate protection, as it relates to the safety goal,.
