t As' Chicago, Illinois 60690 - 0767 July 3, 1989 Dr. Thomas E. Murley, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Subject:
LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Static "O" Ring Deportability NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374 References (a):
W.E. Morgan letter to U.S. NRC dated February 6, 1989, Requesting Relief from Static "O" Ring Deportability.
1 (b):
P.C. Shemanski letter to T.J. Kovach dated June 20, 1989, transmitting Approval of Static "O" Ring Deportability Request.
Dear Dr. Murley:
Reference (a) requested relief from the Notification and Reporting requirements of IE Dulletin 86-02 regarding Static "O" Ring Differential Pressure Switches.
Reference (b) granted approval of this request and additionally required LaSalle County Station to report SOR dp switch failures within 30 days of discovery.
In addition, LaSalle County Station was to provide the NRC with a SOR dp switch summary report on a quarterly basis.
Per a telephone cerversation with Mr. Paul Shemanski of your staff on June 23, 1989, it was decided that the 30 day report was not required and that LaSalle County Station would only have to provide the NRC with a SOR dp switch summary report on a quarterly basis.
This letter documents that conversation.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact this office.
Very truly yours, 5
ly W.
