This, letter;is in reference'to a recent safety inspection of an NRC licensee, also. contracted for services by Taylor Energy Company, conducted on June 16 and-17,'1989; on one of your offshore drilling platforms. The inspection was related.to the ese of radioactive material while performing well logging activities. Although the well logging did not occur while our. inspectors were 7-on site, the inspectors did observe that the material was appropriately stored and secured in a safe manner.
We~wish to thank yo'u and your staff' members for their assistance,in notifying us.of the proposed well. logging activities, maintaining an " unannounced" inspection status, and in'providing offshore transportation for our inspectors.
.The inspectors found your staff to be both cooperative and informative during the inspection process.
