To discuss a fuel basket material deviation reported by GNSI (Reference GNSI letter from P. Paquin to J. Roberts, NRC, dated April 3.'1989, docketed under Project M-37).
ATTENDEES:
See Enclosure 1 DISCUSSION:
Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS) and Bundesanstalt fur Material forschung-und-prufung (BAM) staff met with General Nuclear Systems, Inc., to discuss a deviation in material used in fabrication of four fuel baskets for the CASTOR V/21 spent fuel storage cask. BAM outlined actions it had undertaken as the competent authority in the Federal Republic of Germany including a special quality assurance audit.
Results of the audit were satisfactory.
GNSI in response to NMSS comment (see Enclosure 2) provided results of statistical analyses demonstrating that the material in the lots selected for basket fabrication for four Ofo3
