-This letter documents the June 12, 1989', conversation between T. M. Cheng, of
,NRC,=and R. O. Hernandez, of TVA.
t The -referenced ' letter requested HRC's concurrence in using 5 percent damping s
for operating basis earthquake (OBE) and 6 percent damping for safe shutdown
[ earthquake.(SSE) for. companion-angle construction and 9 percent damping for OBE a'nd SSE'for-pocket-lock-type construction of.HVAC ducting systems.
TVA-
- now proposes, however, to' limit. damping values to 4 percent for OBE and
- S percent for'SSE for nonwelded companion-angle duct construction and 7l percent for OBE and SSE for pocket-lock-type construction for the long-term design of HVAC systems at SQN.-
NRC's written concurrence is' requested for these new values.
