Farley Nuclear Plant - Units 1 and 2 Extension in Responding to March 28, 1989 Order This letter is to confirm a. 30 day extension granted on April 24, 1989 by Mr. James Lieberman, Director, Office of Enforcement, by telephone to Mr. R. P. Mcdonald, Executive Vice-President, Alabama Power Company for responding to the March 28, 1989 NRC Order imposing a civil monetary penalty concerning alleged inoperability of the Farley Nuclear Plant charging pumps. The basis for this additional' time is to allow Alabama Power Company to present additional technical information that may relate to the NRC Staff's action on imposing the civil penalty specified in the March 28, 1989 Order.

It is our understanding that our response to the Order is due on or before May 27, 1989.
