Public Law 97-415, enacted on January.4, 1983, amended Section 189 of the Atomic Energy Act'of 1954 to authorize the Nuclear Regulatory Commission i4 to-issue and make:immediately effective any amendment to an operatin'g l
license upon'a determination by the Commission that such amendment involves l'
no sign.ificant hazards consideration, notwithstanding the pendency before the Commission of:a request for a hearing.
In addition, the legislation requires the Commission to periodically-(but l -
not less frequently than once; every 30 days) publish notice of any L-
' amendments issued. or proposed tc be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Commission's Biweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving.no significant hazards considerations, which wa, published in the Federal Register on July 26, 1989.
