Imposition of Civil Penalty in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) will be issued on or about June 28, 1989 to Louisiana Power & Light Company.
This action is based on a failure to properly evaluate ASME Section XI test results for the B High Pressure Safety Injection (HPSI) pump. This failure resulted in the plant being in violation of the minimum ECCS requirements of T.S. 3.5.2 for over two nonths.
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:

Telephone Notification of Licensee June 28, 1989 The State of Louisiana will be notified.
The licensee has thirty days from the date of the Notice in which to respcnd.
Following NRC evaluation of the response, the civil penalty may be remitted, mitigated, or imposed by Order.
