Recently, it has come to our attention that RSL is distributing iodine 125 sources manufactured by Reflex Industries, Inc. to persons exempt from licensing pursuant to 10 CFR 30.18 or equivalent provisions of the regulations 1
of any Agreement State. Such distribution requires licensure pursuant to 10 I
CFR 32.18.

In a telephone conversation with B. Riedlinger of our staff on June 14, 1989, you agreed to apply for an NRC distribution license. Copies of necessary i
forms and regulations were sent to you on that day. The completed application should be forwarded to the U.S. Nuclear Pegulatory Commission Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards Branch, Washington, D.C. 20555. The application should include a check to cover the application fee. Contact Glenda Jackson for the License Fee Management Branch at (301) 492-8740 to determine the appropriate fee.
In the June 14, 1989 conversation, you also stated that there would be no further distribution of these iodine-125 sources until an NRC exempt-distribution license is obtained.
Furthermore, you agreed to either maintain the currently possessed sources in secure storage or to return them to Reflex Industries until proper licensure can be obtained.
The purpose of this letter is to confirm these commitments.
If our understanding of your statements is incorrect, you should notify us immediately, in writing.
