VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT 2 INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL OF SUBMITTED RELIEF REQUEST in our letter of March 16,1989 (Serial No.89-182), we requested relief from hydrostatically testing a 3-inch check valve, 2-FW-134, after the replacement of its bolted cap, due to this valve being unisolable from the Unit 2 "C" steam generator. On April 12,1989, a telephone conversation was held between Mr. George Johnson of your staff and Mr. David Fortin of our staff to discuss the requested relief.
i Mr. Johnson stated that because the replacement cap was attached by.a bolted connection (i.e., not requiring welding to the pressure boundary) a hydrostatic pressure test was not necessary for the replacement and a system leakage test would be adequate to satisfy the post-replacement testing requirements. Therefore, the request for relief was not necessary in this particular instance.
Accordingly, we withdraw our relief request concerning the hydrostatic pressure testing 'of this valve.
