Part.. II,. Environmental Technical' Specifications. Section 3.2, ' Item 3,
requires that' l
changes and ' additions to the ; NPDES Permit, be reported to' the NRC.

, On April 24, 1989, we provided a notice of a process modification to the Maryland State j
Department of the Environment. We requested-the Department to accept the change as
,i

corrected site information. without a ; formal permit modification. On May 17, 1989, the i
State of Maryland approved the change ' without a formal modification of the discharge permit.

This change switches the discharge of about 4,000 ' gallons per week of filter backwash from Outfall. 002 to Outfall 001, which includes the main non-contact cooling water
.l (over 3,000,000 gallons / day). The small incremental change in suspended solids will be imperceptible in such a large flow.
