Attachment i Task Order 0005 IMS SYSTEM OPERATOR (DATA GENERAL SUPPORT)

BACKGROUND:

The Headquarters Operations Center provides the NRC with a location to monitor on a continuous basis unusual events which might occur at any of the nuclear-reactor sites in the United States, or any facility which might be harsdling nuclear material. The computer system and applications software which support the center require daily attention and periodic maintenance. The purpose of this task order is to provide the necessary support to accomplish this goal.

Normally, the activities descrioed in this task order will primarily be performed at the NRC's AEOD Operations Center located in the basement of the Maryland National. Bank Bu'ilding in Bethesda, Maryland. However, the IMS System Doerator shall be available to work on all Data General systems throughout the NRC, as directed by the project officer or the task manager.

STATEMENT OF WORK The contractor (Computer Operator) shall be at the NRC facilities, to monitor and maintain performance and to assure computer availability cf the IMS/IDAS computer system. Duties encompassed within the framework of computer operations include:

monitoring hardware maintenance schedules and performing simple hardware opkeep such as tape head and line printer cleaning, cable replacements and repairs, etc.;

utilizing procedures to bring the system up/down in various states to effect actual shutdown / partial shutdown necessary to run DG or other utilities; running utilities as needed to correct disk and system f

problems; running system backup and recovery utilities; assisting NRC users by mounting tapes, placing special forms in the line printer, and canceling user jobs and hung sessions; assessing system probicms and taking appropriate remedial actions; ordering and maintaining adequate supplies such as tapes, paper, etc. as needed; disseminating user hardcopy/ tape output to appropriate pickup areas; maintaining system maintenance and run logs; 1

Task Order 0005 maintaining user / system tape library and logs; localizing and determining the suspected cause of the problem; such problems may stem from modems, multiplexors, phone lines, and DG hardware; performing corrective actions and repair as required; repair could,
