Dear Mr. Burnett:
A revision to Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 73.46, es pub.
lished in the Federal Register of November 10, 1988, Volume 53, Number 218, pages 45443 - 45750, requir2d the submission of revised plans not later than June 12, 1989, detailing how licensees intended to implement three new NRC mandated security upgrades.
Due to the unannounced Security Audit of UNC-NP by NRC (NMSS), Region #1, Region #2, and Region #5 personnel during the week of 22 to 26 May 1989, a great deal of valuable time was lost which would otherwise have been devoted to plans revision.
In light of the above, it is requested UNC-NP be granted a 2 week exten-sion on the deadline for submission of the necessary plan changes. Such extension will move our submission deadline to June 26, 1989. This will ensure that all necessary changes are included.
