DOCKET NO. 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT THIMBLE TUBE THINNING IN WESTINGHOUSE REACTORS
Reference:
USNRC Bulletin No. 88-09, dated July 26, 1988 NRO Bulletin 88-09 required licensees to establish and implement an inspection program to monitor thimble tube performance.
This letter provides the required ninety-day written response and confirms that an inspection program consistent with that described in Item 1 of the Actions Requested Section has been established.
Union Electric established an inspection program as a result of industry experience.
This program was implemented during the Callaway Refuel 2 outage.
All of the thimble tubes were inspected September 15 and 16, 1987 using eddy current testing.
The results of this testing and all the supporting documentation are maintained at the plant in accordance with plant procedures.
